PAY CLAS­SI­FI­CA­TION: Non-Exempt

DEF­I­N­I­TION: Entry lev­el air­port main­te­nance work­er per­form­ing gen­er­al labor in the main­te­nance and repair of air­port facil­i­ties. Assists oth­er per­son­nel in the per­for­mance of skilled work as direct­ed. Per­forms relat­ed duties as required. 

EXAM­PLES OF DUTIES: Mow­ing, trim­ming and land­scap­ing grass areas uti­liz­ing a vari­ety of equip­ment includ­ing trac­tors, mow­ers, chain saws, weed eaters, etc. Main­tains and repairs pave­ment areas includ­ing repair of pot­holes and cracks. Cleans ditch­es and oth­er drainage and ero­sion con­trol areas. Spray­ing of weed killer and removal of obstruc­tions (trees, brush, etc.). Paints inte­ri­or and exte­ri­or of build­ings, run­way, and road mark­ings. Main­tains road­way and oth­er direc­tion­al signs. Assists with air­field light­ing repairs, ground and build­ing main­te­nance. Removes trash and debris. Per­forms rou­tine car­pen­try work. 

QUAL­I­FI­CA­TIONS: Grad­u­a­tion from an accred­it­ed high school or pos­ses­sion of an accept­able equiv­a­len­cy diplo­ma. Basic knowl­edge of the prin­ci­ples, pro­ce­dures and equip­ment used in the gen­er­al main­te­nance and repair of air­port build­ings and facil­i­ties. Must pos­sess a valid Flori­da driver’s license.

MIS­CEL­LA­NEOUS REQUIRE­MENTS: Must pass pre-employ­ment drug test­ing as well as peri­od­ic test­ing in accor­dance with air­port pol­i­cy; must pass a 10-year, fin­ger­print-based, crim­i­nal his­to­ry records check as required by the Trans­porta­tion Secu­ri­ty Administration.
