PAY LEV­EL: 140 ($37,364.19 — $69,931.77)

PAY CLAS­SI­FI­CA­TION: Non-Exempt

DEF­I­N­I­TION: Entry lev­el posi­tion respon­si­ble for air­port fire­fight­ing duties with empha­sis on air­craft res­cue and fire­fight­ing. Per­forms relat­ed duties as required.

EXAM­PLES OF DUTIES: Responds to all alerts, emer­gen­cies and inci­dents pro­vid­ing fire­fight­ing and res­cue ser­vices as direct­ed. Per­forms gen­er­al fire sta­tion house­hold duties includ­ing hose and appa­ra­tus clean­ing, dry­ing, and minor main­te­nance and repair work. Par­tic­i­pates in inspec­tion of air­port facil­i­ties for the pur­pose of fire and acci­dent pre­ven­tion. Par­tic­i­pates in train­ing pro­grams and exer­cis­es to main­tain cur­ren­cy in air­craft fire­fight­ing and res­cue functions. 

QUAL­I­FI­CA­TIONS: Must be cer­ti­fied as a fire­fight­er by the State of Flori­da and main­tain such cer­ti­fi­ca­tion cur­rent at all times. Employ­ee must by phys­i­cal­ly fit and be cer­ti­fied as drug free. Knowl­edge of the prin­ci­ples, pro­ce­dures and equip­ment used in mod­ern fire­fight­ing and pre­ven­tion. Must pos­sess a valid Flori­da driver’s license.

MIS­CEL­LA­NEOUS REQUIRE­MENTS: Must pass pre-employ­ment drug test­ing as well as peri­od­ic test­ing in accor­dance with air­port pol­i­cy; must pass a 10-year, fin­ger­print-based, crim­i­nal his­to­ry records check as required by the Trans­porta­tion Secu­ri­ty Administration.
