DEFINITION: Entry level airport maintenance worker performing general labor in the maintenance, repair and operation of airport facilities and grounds. Assists other personnel in the performance of skilled work as directed. Performs related duties as required. Schedule will very based on operational needs of the Airport. Additional hours may be added based on necessity.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Duties will include; assist in the terminal building operations, mowing, trimming and landscaping grass areas utilizing a variety of equipment including tractors, mowers, chain saws, weed eaters, etc.; maintaining/repairing pavement areas including repair of potholes and cracks; cleaning ditches and other drainage and erosion control areas; spraying of weed killer and removal of obstructions (trees, brush, etc.); painting interior and exterior of buildings, runway, and road markings; maintaining roadway and other directional signs; assisting with airfield lighting repairs, ground and building maintenance; removal of trash and debris; and performing routine carpentry work.
QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Basic knowledge of the principles, procedures and equipment used in the general maintenance and repair of airport buildings and facilities. Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a repeated basis.
MISCELLANEOUS REQUIREMENTS: Must pass pre-employment drug testing as well as periodic testing in accordance with airport policy; must pass a 10-year, fingerprint-based, criminal history records check as required by the Transportation Security Administration.
