JOB DESCRIPTION
CLASSIFICATION: Seasonal Maintenance Worker
DEPARTMENT: Maintenance
SUPERVISOR: Maintenance Manager
EFFECTIVE DATE: June 1, 2022
PAY LEVEL: $11.62/hr
PAY CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
DEFINITION: Seasonal, unskilled, airport maintenance worker performing general labor in the maintenance and repair of airport facilities. Assists other personnel in the performance of work as directed. Seasonal worker may work up to 6 months during growing season from April through September.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Under supervision performs mowing, trimming and landscaping grass areas utilizing a variety of equipment including push mowers, weed eaters, small hand tools, etc. Maintains and repairs pavement areas including repair of potholes and cracks. Cleans ditches and other drainage and erosion control areas. Removes miscellaneous debris (trees, brush, etc.). Paints interior and exterior of buildings, runway, and road markings. Maintains roadway and other directional signs. Assists with airfield lighting repairs, ground and building maintenance. Removes trash and debris. Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Basic knowledge of the principles, procedures and equipment used in the general maintenance and repair of airport buildings and facilities. Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Both indoor and outdoor working environment with exposure to dust and pollen; subject to a variety of extreme weather conditions; exposure to constant noise as well as fumes and odors; susceptible to mechanical, chemical, electrical, as well as other safety hazards associated with the repair, maintenance and operation of an airport.
MISCELLANEOUS REQUIREMENTS: Must pass pre-employment drug testing as well as periodic testing in accordance with airport policy; must pass a 10-year, fingerprint-based, criminal history records check as required by the Transportation Security Administration. Schedule may require shift-work to include evenings and weekends.
