JOB DESCRIPTION
DEFINITION: Entry level airport maintenance worker performing general labor in the maintenance and repair of airport facilities. Assists other personnel in the performance of skilled work as directed. Performs related duties as required.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Mowing, trimming and landscaping grass areas utilizing a variety of equipment including tractors, mowers, chain saws, weed eaters, etc. Maintains and repairs pavement areas including repair of potholes and cracks. Cleans ditches and other drainage and erosion control areas. Spraying of weed killer and removal of obstructions (trees, brush, etc.). Paints interior and exterior of buildings, runway, and road markings. Maintains roadway and other directional signs. Assists with airfield lighting repairs, ground and building maintenance. Removes trash and debris. Performs routine carpentry work.
QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Basic knowledge of the principles, procedures and equipment used in the general maintenance and repair of airport buildings and facilities. Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license.
MISCELLANEOUS REQUIREMENTS: Must pass pre-employment drug testing as well as periodic testing in accordance with airport policy; must pass a 10-year, fingerprint-based, criminal history records check as required by the Transportation Security Administration.
